I mentioned in my previous post that I would be adding a couple of photos from family veterans to my Patriotic tree. I fixed those photos last night--I just scanned some old photographs, put them in little square frames, and tied a bow of red, white & blue! The top ornament is my father, and the other 2 are his brothers. The middle picture is my uncle who was a WWII fighter pilot and killed in action. How sad--he made the supreme sacrifice. None of these are living now, but I know they would be so proud to be included.
Thanks for visiting, and come back soon!

Patriotic Tree!
Here in the United States, we are celebrating Memorial Day-a day to remember those who died in service to our country. I changed out my Spring tree and put out the patriotic stuff. I will leave this up through the summer, as July 4 is in the not-to-far future!
I've always been partial to patriotic things, and this tree is one of my favorites! To the right, you see Abe Lincoln and George Washington, from Prairie Schooler #160--February. They are finished with various pieces of patriotic fabric and different star buttons. Also in this photo is Liberty, a freebie from Lizzie Kate, stitched on Aida with a cute navy gingham ribbon hanger and backed with bandana print.
The tree is topped with mini flags and red star ornaments hang on it, as well as patriotic fabric pinwheels with button centers.
The tree is topped with mini American flags and also a cute "July's Stars of Freedom" from Rainbow Gallery/Erica Michaels. It's stitched on pale blue Aida and has a little star button. The hanger is twisted wire with beads on it.
And finally, I have another view of "Stars of Freedom" and a little photo of my father from WWII. I know that Memorial Day honors those that were lost serving their country, and he was not lost then, but I just have to put this out when patriotic days are observed. He had 2 brothers that also served in WWII and I plan to put their photos on, as well.
You can see that I love the ornaments, especially, and I hope to stitch on a few more while this tree is up! I have some really cute patterns and ideas. Stay tuned to see how it all comes together!
Reminder!! My giveaway deadline is tomorrow and a winner will be chosen! Don't miss out on registering! I can't wait to see who wins and get their package mailed off!
Thanks for visiting, and come back soon!

Two more for Spring!
My cousin has been cleaning out and rearranging. She has given me some pretty family items and other fun things. She gave me two little framed flower cross stitch pictures that have hung on her wall for probably more than 30 years! They were rather "dated" in small gold rectangle frames and were stitched on Aida that has discolored through the years. She told me to take them and make some ornaments, which I did! I think they turned out really cute! I used an upholstery cut sample at the bottom of the red one, with taupe trim and buttons. It is backed in a red on red paisley cotton. The yellow flowers have an African-type print with a bee button and little yellow flowers attaching the hanger. It is backed in another African animal print.
Don't forget about my Giveaway!!!! The deadline is May 25 and that is fast approaching! Look back on posts from May 8 or May 11 for details. Thanks to all those who have signed up and if you haven't yet, I hope to see YOUR name there, too!
Happy Stitching and Come Back Soon!

A little finish!
I finished a sweet little Prairie Schooler reindeer! He turned out rather small, but I think it's really cute! I worked on this when my dear friend, Janie from Indiana, was visiting. We stitch together and have the best time! We both have seasonal trees, and always love to get together to compare, finish, and mostly visit!
Hope today is a good one for you! Don't forget to enter my giveaway, and encourage others to do so, too! View May 8 or May 11 for details!

Expanded Giveaway!
Hello bloggers and blog readers! As you know, this is a new experience for me and I am really enjoying it!
In my last post, I announced my first giveaway that will end on May 25th! You will remember that I posted a photo of a Prairie Schooler Christmas Traditions chart, and said there would be other stuff added! AND THERE IS! After thinking about this, I realize that I should have posted a photo of all the goodies instead of just that one chart...it's so new to me and I just wanted to get it online fast!
SO, below is a photo of what I've come up with and I hope you like these additions:
Another PS chart--A Christmas Visit and the 2004 Santa, 5 pieces of Christmas fabric to use in ornament making, some ribbon and cording for hangers, a tiny stocking "ornament" to attach to your stitching, some pretty variegated red floss, assorted red buttons, and cute red-dotted scissors!! I didn't photograph the stitched gift from me (not quite finished!!!) but I hope this will excite you! (Can you tell I love Prairie Schooler?)
I will make this easy!!! You may sign up on this post OR the other post from May 8th--only these 2. I will include names from both of these posts and you can look over the "rules" on the May 8th post--I know--I should have gotten my act together first!!! But I am so excited to offer this and I hope the winner will be very happy!!!
I hope that your Mother's Day is happy and full of beautiful Spring weather!
Come back soon--thank you for visiting!

Another Finish & A GIVEAWAY!
I hope this finds everyone doing well out in blog land! I haven't posted in several days, so I'm going to catch up today!
I have a finish that is so cute...Bok, Bok freebie from Plum Street Samplers! I had been wanting to finish another ornament this way, using beads as the edging. I realize this is probably a bit "much" for this silly, cute bird, but that's the mood I was in, so that's how it turned out! And I love the precious backing fabric that almost matches Mr. Turkey!! You can't see the ribbon hanger very well, but it was a good match, and I even added a little gold leaf button! Such fun!!! Can't wait until Thanksgiving to hang it up!

NOW!! For the Giveaway! I am a big Prairie Schooler fan and I'm going to offer this Christmas Traditions chart #95 as my first Giveaway! PLUS some other goodies, still to be determined, but I will promise you that they will be FUN and enjoyable! I will also include something I made.... It's never a bad time to work on Christmas items to prepare for the season! This Giveaway is open to anyone, anywhere, but you must be a follower! I want to increase my number of followers, so this is a good way to start! I will mail anywhere, as long as I have a good address! Not many rules--Must be a follower, sign up on this post only for a chance, and if you mention it on your blog you will get a second chance! Just let me know that you mentioned it! That's about it! I'll pick a winner on Sunday evening, May 25th and post it then! Good luck to everyone! Come back soon! Frances
