A Winner and a Project!!

From my mother's house, I brought back these three shells I had stitched probably back in the 80s--you can certainly tell that by the framing!  haha

My mother loved peach so that's why those peach mats are there.  I remember when I stitched them, thinking that the shell colors were so pretty on the brown fabric.  Then when the peach mats went on, the whole contrast changed and I didn't like them as much. But she did, and that was fine!!!
However, I will be taking them apart and making some Summer shell ornaments!!  I'm really excited about fixing these and I can envision them completed just like I want them! Stay tuned for that little project!

Christmas Stitching

I have a cross stitched piece that is dear to me.  This was stitched by my late aunt, who would be 106 if living today!  She's been gone for a number of years and I got this after she passed.  She was a widow with no children, and I got two pictures that she stitched, probably back in the '80s.  I think it's lovely--I have no idea who the chart is by, but I love the colors and I like it on the pale green Aida she chose.

This isn't a great photo, but you get the idea!  She would be so pleased to know that I enjoy it each year!

I'm getting VERY excited, seeing Christmas trees and goodies on your blogs!!  I am ALMOST finished with my decorating!!  I can't believe it's taken me this long, but I'm plodding along and getting it all together!  LOL!!
I put up more than one tree, so it's just taken a bit longer this year with everything else that has been going on! (like school)  But I'm going to post photos soon, so please bear with me a little longer!! Then I'm going to take some ME time and stitch away!!!
Fortunately, I have all my shopping done and wrapped!!!  My Christmas cards are being addressed now--almost done!

"Old Stitching"

Just a quick post--I don't have much to show stitch-wise!  However, I visited my mother this week and I saw this Cricket Collection piece hanging on her wall.  I stitched this for her years ago.  I always liked the Cricket Collection charts.  Some may be considered "out of style" now, but many are still lovely.  If you aren't familiar with them, google it and check it out!

Anyway, I stitched this on pale linen and used the green & peach colors that my mother loves together!  (yes, it was the 80s when I did this!! HA)  But it's a sweet stitch with a sweet Bible verse!

I hope to have some new stitching to show soon!  And, of course, all kinds of Christmas decorations and fun, too!

Another finish!

This may be the last of the stitching I "got back"!!  I stitched this in 1990 for my mother-in-law, who collected black and white cows.  It was in a little frame and I got it back recently.  I didn't have anywhere to hang it, so I turned it into a little ornament!  It will look cute in spring and summer--and I'll think of her when I see it!
I have no idea who the designer is--it's just been too long!

Fall finish!

Lately I've "gotten back" a few small pieces I've stitched--my house is SO full and so are my walls!!  However, you know I love ornaments, so I'm turning them into ornaments so I can enjoy them!  This little squirrel was a very small framed picture I stitched for my father in 1982. He was very ill and died at a young age.  He used to love to watch the squirrels play in the yard--we lived in an older neighborhood with giant oak trees and squirrels everywhere!  I made this for him and he thought it was cute!  I gave him several "squirrel" gifts during those years!
Anyway, I decided it would be a perfect fall ornament.  It is stitched on brown Aida cloth.  I used a couple of fall fabrics and brown rick rack and leopard rick rack, accented with brown buttons.  I used a sheer brown and yellow ribbon for the hanger, attached with more brown buttons.  The backing is light brown with little mini pumpkins.
I have no idea who the designer was--I am thinking it might have been a note card.
**ALSO, in looking at this now, I'm wondering if it's actually a chipmunk???  (because of the coloring!)  Oh well, if it is, no one has ever said anything!  HA HA

An old favorite!

What a busy time of year this is.....as a church musician, I am in the busiest time, but the most beautiful!  Also, I'm finishing up this school year, working on my masters, and it's almost the end of the year!  YAY!

I was looking around the house and spied this old favorite, a music sampler I made for my mother in law quite a while back.  She's gone now, and this came back to me.  I've always loved it.  I know it's stitched on Aida--or maybe this is called fiddler's cloth?--and I know the colors are probably from "yesterday"!  (And I actually changed to those colors from the chart--you should have seen that!!!!)  Anyway, I love this and have it in my living room near the piano.  I've always used green in my home--I feel it's a neutral, like the leaves in nature.  I think these colors blend with what I have now and I enjoy seeing it when I'm in there!
